The Meghalaya Police has collected sufficient evidence against beleaguered state BJP vice president and Tura MDC Bernard Marak.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live Chief, Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi said that sufficient evidence has been collected against Marak based on which the CJM court in Tura has issued a non-bailable warrant against him.

Responding to a query on the political twist to the case and the allegation by the Tura MDC that the state police planned to gun him down, DGP Bishnoi said the police are strictly proceeding as per law.

The Meghalaya DGP further said that the state police are constantly trying to track Bernard Marak’s location and are expecting a breakthrough soon.

Marak, who has claimed that there is a threat to his life with the Meghalaya police allegedly planning to assassinate him following the raid on his farmhouse, has been absconding for the last few days.

Bernard Marak has been accused of running a prostitution racket at his farmhouse on the outskirts of Tura which was raided by police on Friday night.

Meanwhile, a lookout notice has been issued by the Meghalaya police against Marak. The lookout notice has been forwarded to DGPs and Commissioners across the country.
