Rains cause flash floods in Guwahati; NE to experience downpours

The Met department has predicted that the northeast will experience very heavy rainfall in certain areas, while some places would witness moderate rainfall.
Heavy rains since last night caused flash floods in different parts of Guwahati. Heavy rains were witnessed for the most part of the wee hours and light drizzling was witnessed early morning today which has caused waterlogging in the city.
Areas like Hatigaon, Rukminigaon, and Anil Nagar witnessed heavy waterlogging in the morning hours. The early waterlogging in these areas has caused problems for commuters in the morning hours with traffic getting affected.
Meanwhile, the Northeast is set to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. The Met department has predicted that the northeast will experience very heavy rainfall in certain areas, while some places would witness moderate rainfall.
As per the met department, the northeastern states including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, and Mizoram will experience downpours till July 29.
The weather here in Guwahati has been inclement since early morning today. While no instances of floods have been reported so far, certain areas have been partially waterlogged.
