Eight passengers died on the spot and over a dozen passengers sustained injuries after a speeding double-decker bus collided with a parked double-decker bus on the Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki today.
The accident occurred when the double-decker bus rammed right into another bus close to Narendrapur Madraha village of Loniktra police station space. Both the buses were en route to Delhi from Bihar.
The injured persons were admitted to CHC Haidergarh with those who sustained serious injuries being referred to the trauma center in Lucknow.
The accident happened near Narendrapur Madraha village in the Loniktra police station area.
Both the double-decker buses were going to Delhi from Sitamarhi and Supaul in Bihar.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief and extended condolences to the families of the victims who died in the accident.
Following the incident, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took to Twitter and expressed grief over the loss of lives in the road accident and directed officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured. He wrote, “The loss of life in a road accident on Purvanchal Expressway is extremely sad. Instructions have been given to the concerned officers to conduct relief and rescue operations expeditiously and provide proper treatment to the injured. May Lord Shri Ram provide peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured.”
