Train services between Guwahati and Silchar has resumed from today after over a month. The route which passes through Haflong was badly damaged by landslides that occurred on May 15.
Despite facing many challenges, the railway authorities raced against time to restore the connectivity. It needs to be mentioned that people from Tripura, Mizoram along with entire south Assam had been suffering a lot after landslides disrupted the rail connectivity.
The deluge of May and June buried railway stations, especially the picturesque New Halflong station serving the administrative centre of Dima Hasao, Halflong.
Railway lines were also swept away with chunks of land beneath the railway lines caving due to rains.
