The All Meghalaya SSA Teachers Association today started its indefinite sit-in demonstration at the parking lot near the Additional Secretariat in Shillong.
The protest came after the state government’s failure to comply with their demands for the release of their pending salaries for 5 months and arrears for 8 months of the 2016 to 2017 fiscal.
It may be mentioned here that the teachers body had earlier announced that it will hold an indefinite agitation if the state government fails to comply with the demands within July 12.
Speaking to media, the president of All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers Association said that they had not received their salaries for 5 months and requested the Chief Minister to look into the matter and release their pending salaries.
