Tripura Police trains staff on drone operation to boost digital surveillance

In order to achieve that a 2-day special training on drones was organized by the KTD Singh Police Training Institute and State Forensic Science Laboratory.

In its endeavour to enable smart policing, the Tripura Police for the first time in its history has started training police personnel in operating drones or unmanned aerial vehicles.

In order to achieve that a 2-day special training on drones was organized by the KTD Singh Police Training Institute and State Forensic Science Laboratory, Narshingarh in collaboration with Nextechno Gen Private Limited, New Delhi, and D-Town Robotics Private Limited Noida.

The special hands-on training on the usage of drones for surveillance purposes, prevention of drone infiltration, and its forensics in case of infiltration was conducted at the RK Nagar TSR ground.

It may be mentioned here that drones, one of the latest additions in the security and monitoring gazettes in defence technology, have been widely employed by the country’s law enforcement agencies in recent times.

It may be further recalled here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 during a conference of State DGPs of State and Heads of Central Paramilitary Forces had mooted the concept of utilizing drones in smart policing.

Speaking exclusively to Northeast Live, the Principal of KTD Singh Police Training Institute, Dilip Ray said that this is for the first time that police personnel is being trained for the usage of drones.

Meanwhile, Abhinash Chandra Paul, the trainer who conducted the training session said that besides live demonstration, the personnel attending the session were also briefed on the sectors in which drones can be utilised and for benefiting them in their works.
