Extending support to the nationwide strike called on 28th and 29th March by various Central trade unions, CPM-affiliated CITU took out a procession rally in Agartala on March 21.

Former MP and CITU leader Sankar Prasad Datta who led the procession said that the nationwide strike on 28 and 29 March is to protest the anti-people and pro-corporate policies of the BJP government at the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the rally was staged to aware the common people and to make the strike a massive success.

Supporters of various trade union affiliated with the CITU participated in the procession with flags and banners raising slogans to support the strike.

According to a statement of the joint forum of CTUs including INTUC, AITUC HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC and Independent Sectoral Federations, Associations called upon the working people and their unions irrespective of affiliations to make the two days strike a massive success and save the nation from destructive, anti-national policy regime.
