Massive amount of ganja seized in Meghalaya

Acting on specific inputs custom sleuths seized 497 kg of ganja from an 18-wheeler truck in Meghalaya. According to the deputy commissioner, customs, the ganja was concealed in the truck carrying rubber.

The truck which was coming from Tripura and heading towards Guwahati was intercepted by custom officials at Mawrynkeneng on the Shillong by pass. The driver of the truck Rakesh Singh and helper Rajesh Meena both hailing from Rajasthan have been arrested.

Significantly, DC customs said Shillong has become the transit route for smuggling of ganja. The market value of the ganja has been estimated at Rs 10-15 thousand per kg.
