With man-animal conflict refusing to die in Assam, one person was trampled to death at Lalabari in Goalpara district of Assam late Thursday night.
The deceased have been identified as one Gopal Barman who was killed after a herd of wild elephants strayed into human habitat and went on a rampage.
Meanwhile, panic stricken villagers alleged that the forest department is yet to act to their repeated complaints of elephants going on a rampage in the area from the past few days in the area.
