The Assam Police constituted a Special Investigation Team for a fast track probe into the horrific Nagaon minor gang rape and murder case following massive public outcry over the increasing number of crime against women across the state.

Assam police additional director general Harmeet Singh who was making on the spot assessment of the case in Batadrava, the scene of the incident said that Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been set up so as not to leave any loopholes in the investigations and prepare a full-proof case to pin the accused.

He informed that in order to put a check to the increasing crime against women and children, Assam police is also going to hold hands with various NGOs, psychiatrists, teachers and activists to raise social awareness in remote areas of region.
