The Federation of All School Teachers of Meghalaya or FASTOM today organised a General Meeting at Shillong’s Malki Ground to decide its next course of action. The FASTOM is demanding up-gradation of ad hoc posts in Meghalaya.

Notably, there are a total of about 10,000 ad hoc teachers counting all the categories. Earlier the members of FASTOM had intended to march towards Secretariat but were stopped as they failed to get the permission of the District Administration.

Talking to media persons, executive Member of FASTOM Mayborn Lyngdoh said that they will not go for a full-fledged agitation till board exams in the state are over. Lyngdoh further said that they have already come out with a blueprint of their course of action in the days to come.

She also alleged the Meghalaya Government of returning Rupees Five Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Crore Rupees from the budgetary allocation to the Centre due to their inability to produce a utilization certificate. Lyngdoh said that just a 10 percent allocation of that money will be sufficient for the Government to pay their pending salaries.
