Ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today paid a visit at the residence of Raha MLA Sasikanta Das. CM Sarma’s visit to Das’ residence comes at a time when rampant politicking is underway among the parties to ensure the victory of their candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections.
The Raha MLA has been known to be a vocal supporter of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inspite of being from the opposition Congress party. Many have in fact speculated that Sasikanta Das may jump to the ship given his occasional praises on the CM and the Assam government.
While downplaying the politics behind him meeting the Congress MLA of Raha, CM Sarma said that Sasikanta Das may not be a part of the BJP but he backs the government hence his support is assured. On top of that, CM Sarma also said that there many leaders and MLAs of the Congress who are considering to join the BJP will surely extend their support in the Rajya Sabha polls.
