The Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) has called for a total bandh starting from March 21 to 23 in Southern Angami areas in Nagaland, protesting against the stationing of Manipur

The Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) has called for a total bandh starting from March 21 to 23 in Southern Angami areas in Nagaland, protesting against the stationing of Manipur Police at the disputed area Kezoltsa or Koziirii, which is under arbitration by the Board of Arbitrators of the Tenyimi People’s Organization.

A joint Representation consisting of the Presidents of the TPO, Mao Council, Maram Khullen and SAPO, was reportedly submitted to the Chief Minister of Manipur on November 20 last year to remove the Manipur Police from the disputed area.

However, with no action taken, SAPO has called for a total bandh along the National Highway.

In this connection, the President of the Naga People’s Organisation urged the Tenyimi People’s Organization to intervene in the matter as National Highway 2 is the lifeline of the entire state of Manipur, and more so that the faith and confidence in the TPO’s leadership and the spirit of brotherhood amongst the Tenyimi tribes is upheld.

The NPO also urged the TPO to expedite the settlement of the land dispute at an early date so that such unavoidable situations do not arise in future.
