Jayant Dagar, a student of Kyi-De-Khang Secondary school in Gangtok, created history to become the first-ever Sikkimese Boxer to a medal in the Asian Boxing Championship.
Dagar won the Bronze Medal in the 54 kg Weight Category in Asian Junior Boxing Championship, recently concluded in Amman’s Capital, Jordan from March 3 to 15, 2022.

In the quarter-final bout, Jayant defeated Kirgishtan boxer, Pansher Aliahkmed by a narrow score of 3:2 points and secured the Bronze Medal for India.
Whereas in the Semifinal, Jayant lost against Thailand’s boxer, Thanaphansakon Kalaseeram by 4:1 points.
Jayant will now return to Gangtok on March 24.
