Veteran NPP Leader and Former Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Rowell Lyngdoh passed away on Sunday, He was 86. The former legislator from Mawkyrwat constituency in South West Khasi Hills district held several key portfolios during his tenure as a Minister.

Condoling the demise, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the demise of veteran statesman and former Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Rowell Lyngdoh. As a senior member of our party, Bah Rowell made rich contributions to our growth through his counsel & guidance. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Meanwhile, Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Mukul Sangma also took to Twitter to condole the demise.

It’s a very sad day for the state – we lost a veteran public leader Bah Rowell Lyngdoh whose innumerable contribution in state’s dev will be always cherished. Deepest condolences 2 d members of d bereaved family; RIP, “Mukul Sangma tweeted.

Rowell Lyngdoh no more

Mukul Sangma further remembered his long association with him in serving the people of the state and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

Rowell Lyngdoh was long associated with the Indian National Congress.

However, on January 4, 2018, he resigned from Congress and joined the NPP.
