What can be termed as a big embarrassment for the Congress, the grand old party could manage to win only 1 municipal board.
Meanwhile, BJP’s ally AGP won 2 Municipal Boards of Barpeta and Bokakhat. Elaborating on the numbers, the BJP has won 742 wards out of the total 977 wards.
The Congress has won 71 wards while the AGP has won 65 wards. What can be termed as a significant trend, Independent candidates have won 99 seats.
Polling for a total of 977 wards of 80 municipalities was held on March 6.
