Former West Garo Hills MLA Edmund K Sangma who joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yesterday said that he joined BJP as it is a party with a national presence and can bring in a difference in the Garo Hills.
Sangma joined the BJP in the presence of state unit President Ernest Mawrie and other senior leaders at the BJP office in Shillong.

Joining the party, Sangma also said that the overall performance of the Conrad Sangma government is quite poor and this is going to be a big problem for them in the next elections.
Meanwhile, expressing elation, state BJP President Ernest Mawrie while addressing reporters after the joining ceremony said that the joining of Edmund K Sangma will make the party stronger and will also increase its outreach.
