Eminent industrialist social worker Dipok Kr. Barthakur remembered

A memorial for the late social worker and philanthropist Dipok Kr. Barthakur at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra was held in Guwahati today. The programme was attended by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and other eminent personalities including the family members and well wishers of late Barthakur. Devotional songs were performed during the event and a special reel showcasing the life and work of late Barthakur was also shown. During the programme, special tribute was paid to Late Barthakur by Chief Minister Sarma.

The progamme also saw the release of the Assamese version of the book titled ‘Dipok Barthakur- A Biography: Right Turn in Assam’ by Partha Pratim Hazarika. The original English version of the book, written by Wasbir Hussain, was released last year.

Dipok Kumar Barthakur who was an eminent industrialist died on February 16 at the age of 84 in a Chennai hospital after a brief illness.

He was one of Assam’s most prominent industrialists, social workers and philanthropists. Barthakur was the Vice-chairman of the State Innovation and Transformation Aayog.
