President Ram Nath Kovind has arrived on a three-day visit to Assam. The President was received by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Governor Jagdish Mukhi. Currently, President Kovind is heading towards the Kamakhya temple accompanied by Governor Mukhi and Chief Minister Sarma.
President Kovind said he would be kick-starting the celebrations to mark the 400th birth anniversary of the legendary Ahom general, Lachit Barphukan.

During the course of his three-day visit, the President is also scheduled to visit the Kaziranga National Park and attend the convocation ceremony at Tezpur University.
In view of the President’s arrival today, large-scale preparations have been made in Guwahati. Some major road links within the city would be closed for the smooth movement of the President’s cavalcade. With several flyovers still under construction in the city, several roads will be cordoned off on February 25 and 26.
