Preparations are afoot in full swing to welcome President of India Ram Nath Kovind who is scheduled to arrive in Assam on February 25.
President Kovind will be in the state during the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Borphukan, the celebrations of which will be held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma himself reviewed the preparations ahead of the President’s visit.
President Ram Nath Kovind will be arriving in Assam on a three-day visit.
He will launch the year-long celebrations to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Borphukan.

The President of India will lay the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Lachit Borphukan maidam in Jorhat.
Besides, President Ram Nath Kovind will also lay the base for a memorial of Alaboi War to be set up at Dadara in the Kamrup district.
On February 26, President Ram Nath Kovind will attend the convocation of Tezpur University.
On the evening of February 26, the President of India will visit Kaziranga National Park and take a jeep safari in the World Heritage site.
He will also go over the various initiatives taken by the Assam government to conserve Kaziranga, such as the elevated corridor and measures to preserve Kaziranga’s history.
On February 27, President Ram Nath Kovind will attend key events and will return to New Delhi in the evening.
