A one year old Himalayan black bear was successfully relocated to the Miao mini Zoo in Arunachal Pradesh.

The bear was rescued by Yangwok Hodong, a resident of Lazu in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh near the Indo-Myanmar International border two months ago. The Himalayan black bear is a sub-species of the Asian black bear found in the Himalayas of India, Tibet, Nepal, China and Pakistan.

Although, hunting of the himalayan black bear has been banned since 1977 it often becomes the target of hunters in the dense jungles of Arunachal Pradesh.

B Darang, the Divisional Forest Officer, Khonsa had thanked Hodong and Thungdok for their positive attitude towards conservation of nature and wildlife.
