In a historic move, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma rolled out microfinance loan waivers at Tinsukia today as part of the government’s microfinance loan waiver scheme in the state.

It may be noted that here scheme is aimed at benefiting as many as 24 lakh women in the state.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sarma said that those who were repaying debts until March 31 last year, can seek the assistance of the government to pay the remaining amount.

He however stated that the maximum amount that would be given is Rs 25,000.

Chief Minister Sarma stated that the government is working towards all-around development of the state, right from the grassroots.

He highlighted that the ultimate goal is to take the key services online.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sarma once again appealed to people to refrain from taking forceful donations or Chanda from businesses as it not only impacts the economy but also affects the reputation of the state.

Chief Minister Sarma, who is on a two-day official visit to eastern Assam, also visited the iconic Dinjoy Satra at Chabua where he paid his obeisance at the holy shrine.

The Assam Chief Minister also visited the Disam Dev Satra at Bandarkhatti in Tinsukia district.
