Assam and Mizoram officials on Thursday held a meeting over video conferencing to resolve inter-state border issues.

Both sides talked on various points to avoid any sort of conflict along the border between the two states.

In the interest of farmers of both states residing in the bordering areas and maintaining peaceful coexistence, Assam cabinet minister Atul Bora said that the district magistrate of Hailakandi will hold talks with his Mizoram counterpart.

Mizoram Home minister Lalchamliana and Atul Bora also discussed the formation of high-level regional committees, comprising representatives from Assam and Mizoram, to find solutions to the decades-old border issues.

Both Assam and Mizoram are holding periodic meetings to iron out the differences and reach a conclusive decision on resolving the inter-state border between them. However, occasional incidents of tension or conflicts continue to be reported along the border between both sides.
