Manipur: Mt Khungho in Mao witnesses snowfall after decades

For the first time in decades, Manipur witnessed snowfall at Mao in Senapati District. Mt Khungho and its ranges were covered in snow, as temperatures dropped below minus 3 degrees Celsius.

Mt Khungho which is situated in Mao towards the northern part of Senapati District, is among the highest mountain peaks in the state. This year as per locals, the temperature dropped below minus 3 degree Celsius and during the past weeks the average temperature stayed between 1 and 15 degree Celsius.

Though Dzuko valley along the Manipur Nagaland border had witnessed snowfall during the past years, this is the first time in decades the mountains in Mao received such heavy snowfall covering entire mountain ranges.
