Northeast Covid alert: Cases spike in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura; Manipur sees a marginal dip

Mizoram continues to witness a spike in the number of daily COVID-19 cases. In the last 24 hours, the state reported a total of 2,064 cases, taking the active COVID tally in the state to 13,721 and the positivity rate to 27.32%.
On the other hand, 1,046 patients recovered from the illness in the same time period. Meghalaya reported 288 fresh COVID cases in the last 24 hours. This has taken the active COVID tally to 2,415.
Moreover, six fresh deaths have also been reported from the state, taking the death toll to 1,509. Meanwhile, 361 patients recovered from the illness in the last 24 hours.

Tripura registered 204 new COVID cases. And with the detection of these fresh cases, the active tally has mounted to 7,108. Moreover, four fresh deaths have also been reported from the state, taking the death toll to 819.
While the state’s positivity rate is 7.92%, the recovery rate is currently at 91.96 percent.
Meanwhile, new cases in Manipur fell slightly today, with the state reporting 365 new cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the state’s current positivity rate now stands at 19.1%, while the tally of active cases stands at 3760.
Besides, the state also reported 2 new COVID deaths, taking the death toll to 2,036 in Manipur.
