The war on drugs continues unabated in Assam. In a massive crackdown on the drug trade in the state, Assam Police seized a huge drug haul and also apprehended two drug peddlers from Karbi Anglong district.

As per sources, Police recovered the contraband heroin weighing 1.6 kg from Khot-khoti in Bokajan under Karbi Anglong district.

As per inputs, the market value of the seized contraband is estimated to be Rs 10 crore.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Amir Hussain and Salao Hussain.

Reportedly, Amir Hussain was shot at by the police while he tried to flee from police custody. Hussain sustained bullet injuries in the police firing.

He is now undergoing treatment at Diphu Medical College.
