#KulgamEncounter: Rohit Chhib’s body arrives hometown Jagti in Jammu

A pall of gloom descended at the residence of Constable Rohit Chhib as his mortal remains reached home today as heartbreaking scenes were witnessed as family, friends and neighbours gathered to pay their last respects.

Constable Rohit Chhib of Jammu and Kashmir Police lost his life in the encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday.

In the encounter a terrorist of the terror outfit, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) was also killed while five others were injured, including three soldiers and two civilians.

The encounter took place in the Pariwan area of the South Kashmir district on Wednesday after the security forces launched a cordon and search operation following specific information about the presence of terrorists there.

The police have recovered an AK rifle, a pistol and two grenades from the site of the encounter.

In December of last year, militants attacked a bus carrying security forces in the outskirts of Srinagar, killing three officers and injuring 11 others.

As per reports, as many as 14 terrorists have been killed since January 1, seven of whom were foreign nationals, including one killed at the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara, said Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Thursday.
