TMC MLA Ashish Das, who has been protesting for more than 20 days against alleged privatisation of education in Tripura, was arrested by police in Agartala on Friday.
Das has been protesting against Project Mission 100 Vidyajyoti Schools for the past 22 days, claiming that the government is privatising the school education system.

Das was arrested from the Agartala Circuit House Gandhi Statue area on Friday afternoon, where he, along with other fellow protestors, had been staging a protest for the last several days.
Talking to the media Das, who had recently quit the BJP and jumped ship to the TMC back in October last year, alleged that he was being arrested despite their protest being peaceful.

Das further accused CM Biplab Kumar Deb of misusing his power and position to make the police do his bidding while at the same time asserting that the people of Tripura will ensure that justice is delivered.
