The Jang police have been engaged in rescuing tourists who have been stranded in the area due to the heavy snowfall. Police and ITBP personnel have rescued dozens of tourists who have been stranded in the area since last week.
As per the local police sources, about sixteen tourists, including minors, who had come from Maharashtra have been rescued.
The tourists were kept at the Jang guest house and were later shifted to Tawang.
As per sources, the oxygen level in the area has also gone down due to the fact that they are evacuating tourists from the area at the earliest. Police have also appealed to commuters to drive through the area once the weather clears.
The Jang police, along with ITBP personnel, have also rescued several stranded vehicles in the area. As per reports, many vehicles are still trapped in the area, with heavy snowfall continuing to make the situation difficult.
The Sela pass connects Tawang with the rest of the country. Tawang and adjoining areas have been receiving heavy snowfall for the past few days which has made commuting on roads here quite dangerous.

Sikkim also continues to witness heavy snowfall, leaving tourists and commuters stranded in several parts of the state yesterday.
A team of Indian Army personnel assisted in rescue and relief operations for tourists stranded along the Lachung-Chungthang Road. The Indian Army column facilitated the opening of the road axis by manually clearing choke points and providing medical aid and hot meals to the stranded tourists. Around 19 vehicles were facilitated access to Chungthang, which were stuck due to the heavy snowfall.
