Violet Baruah becomes first women IG of Assam

Making the state proud, IPS officer Violet Baruah has been appointed as the first woman IGP of Assam. Violet Baruah belongs to the Assam-Meghalaya Cadre batch of 2004. Also Read:

Making the state proud, IPS officer Violet Baruah has been appointed as the first woman IGP of Assam. Violet Baruah belongs to the Assam-Meghalaya Cadre batch of 2004.

She also received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service earlier this year. Baruah has also been appointed as the first DIG of Assam in 2018.

Taking to Twitter, Baruah wrote, “Promoted to the rank of IGP. Feeling blessed to be the first lady IGP in the state of Assam.”

She also received President’s medal for meritorious service in 2012. Violet Baruah had joined the police force in 1992 as an Assam police service officer.
