The Central Bureau of Investigation has further intensified the crackdown on the alleged bribery case in Maligaon-based Northeast Frontier Railway. In its latest move, the central agency has now arrested the Chief Electrical Engineer DK Upadhyay. CBI has already launched operations in 9 locations across the country and secured Rs 2.15 crore and key documents.
The CBI has also arrested Chintan Jain and Neeraj Kumar, the director and employee of Bihar-based firm Sunshine Devices Private Limited.
Earlier, the central probe agency arrested deputy chief electrical engineer of NF Railway coaching section Ranjit Kumar Borah in the bribery case. Sleuths of the CBI caught the official red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50 lakh.
Sources revealed that the official had sought Rs 2.5 crore as a bribe. Borah who already has 6 flats under his family’s possession, reportedly bought two more flats in Guwahati from the bribe amount.
