Manipur: 7th General Conference of the Poumai Naga Women held in Senapati district

Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister, Vungzagin Valte along with Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Minister Losii Dikho inaugurated the 7th General Conference of the Poumai Naga Women’s Union in Senapati district on Sunday.

The visiting guests were accorded a warm traditional welcome to the celebrating venue. Cultural demonstrations, dances and other traditional items were showcased during the program.

Speaking as the chief guest, Tribal Affairs and Hills minister Vungzagin Valte lauded the grand preparation for the program. The chief guest stated that he had heard about the Operation Bluebird which occurred at Oinam Hill village in Senapati district but had not visited the place earlier. Minister Valte informed an Eklavya Model Residential School will be set up within the jurisdiction of Oinam Hill village with schemes from the Tribal Welfare and Tribal Affairs ministry.

Minister Dikho lauded the Poumai women where they have advanced in many fields including lady pilot, medical, engineering, besides others more than the male counterpart.

In her Presidential speech, P. Delilah Pao, President, Poumai Naga Women’s Union stressed on the need to redeem the culture and identity of the land as given in the theme of the program.
