On an eventful second day of the 2nd test match between India and New Zealand, the hosts bundled out the Kiwis for a megre 62. Ravi Ashwin swept the tail

On an eventful second day of the 2nd test match between India and New Zealand, the hosts bundled out the Kiwis for a megre 62. Ravi Ashwin swept the tail with four wickets after Siraj toppled the top order with his precise line and length.

Earlier New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel, a Mumbai-born left-arm spinner claimed all 10 wickets in the second Test against India, at the Wankhede Stadium becoming only the third bowler in the history of  Test cricket to achieve the rare feat on Saturday.

Patel, a left-arm spinner, added to his opening day tally of four wickets to return  with figures of 10/119 on Saturday as hosts India were all out for 325.

The 33-year-old Patel, whose parents emigrated to New Zealand in 1996, joined England off-spinner Jim Laker (in 1956 against Australia) and Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble (in 1999 against Pakistan) in picking up all 10 wickets in an innings.

Jim Laker in 1956 had picked up all 10 wickets in the 2nd innings of the 4th Test match against Australia at the Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester.  Former Indian captain Anil Kumble in 1999 repeated the feat at the 2nd Test match against Pakistan in Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi (now Arun Jaitley Stadium) with figures of 10/74 in the 2nd innings.

Patel rattled India in the first session with wickets in successive balls to be on a hat-trick before overnight batsman Mayank Agarwal scored 150 to help India to a grueling 325.

Patel with his spell sent back Agarwal, who scored most of the runs for the hosts on the tricky surface of Wankhede.  Picking up Agarwal Patel broke a 67-run stand involving Axar Patel, who made 52.

For his 10th wicket, the spinner tricked Mohammed Siraj to scoop one up which fell into the hands of Rachin Ravindra. A jubilant Patel let out a roar followed by applause not only from the crowd but also from the Indian dressing room as well.
