Union Home Minister Amit Shah today inaugurated a slew of Amul Dairy projects- a new milk powder factory, a poly film manufacturing plant, and other projects set up at an investment of Rs 415 crore in Gujrat’s Gandhinagar.

The milk powder plant is built at an investment of Rs 257 crore will have a capacity of 150 tonnes per day.

Stating that there is a need to fast-track the adoption of organic products. The Minister said, ” I urge the Amul team to develop infrastructure for organic testing, distribution and to create a chain for the marketing of organic products.”

 “I assure that it would multiply farmers’ income as there is a large demand for verified certified organic food items worldwide, ” he added.

 He further added that without Amul, it is impossible to meet the milk requirements in India.

Meanwhile, the plant is designed to enhance the milk handling capacity of the dairy to 50 lakh litres from the existing 35 lakh litres in a single day.

Shah also inaugurated a new butter manufacturing plant, which will triple AmulFed Dairy’s butter manufacturing capacity from 40 tonnes per day to 120 tonnes.

Besides, he also inaugurated a new robotic high-tech warehousing facility here. The facility has been built at Rs 23 crore and enables the diary to store 50 lakh litres of long-life milk in carton packaging in high-density storage.
