In a major breakthrough, in the war against drug smuggling in Manipur, a team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) Police seized a huge cache of contraband drugs on its way to Assam from Manipur.

Police recovered heroin while random frisking and checking vehicles at the northern end of Lilong Bridge along the Imphal-Moreh Road. 

The contraband was being packed and transported in 50 in the vehicle in question. 

An individual identified as Jamthong Tuboi belonging to Moreh on the Indo-Myanmar border was arrested during the random search and seizure. 

Documents, a mobile phone, as well as the vehicle, were also recovered from his possession along with the drugs.

Upon interrogation, the man revealed that a certain Helen from Myanmar entrusted him with the delivery of the drugs to an individual in Senapati district, from where the drugs were to be dispatched and distributed to other parts of the country through Assam.

A case has been registered at the NAB Police Station and further investigations are underway.
