The Centre has given its go ahead to the Assam government to hold talks with the outlawed ULFA-Independent. This has been informed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who met Union home minister Amit Shah last night at the national capital to deliberate on the matter.
Sarma said that government has been in communication with the ULFA-Independent since the BJP-led coalition came to power in May.

Besides, Himanta biswa Sarma also stressed on the fact that if something concrete emerges during the process than it needs to be carried forward with a structured dialogue.
Meanwhile, Sarma said that no conclusion must be drawn as of now and that it will be a long affair.
