The Mizoram government on Thursday accused the Assam of forcibly occupying land belonging to 20 Mizo families in Kolasib district.

During the ongoing session of the Mizoram assembly, Home Minister Lalchamliana informed that the families were engaged in plantation and wet-rice cultivation in these plots of land.

Replying to a query by Congress MLA Lalrindika Ralte, the Mizoram home minister alleged that 10 families in Vairengte have also their land after being forcibly occupied by Assam police personnel.

Lalchamliana added that the border disputes between both the states needs to be settled first to find a solution to the problems being faced by land owners.
