Violence erupted in Tripura capital Agartala on Wednesday with the CPM headquarters coming under attack during a protest rally organised by BJP.
Unidentified miscreants set on fire a vehicle inside the CPM main party office, while 2 vehicles just outside the party office were also set ablaze. The CPM’s district committee office was also vandalised by unidentified miscreants.
Chaotic scenes were witnessed in the streets of Agartala with police unable to control the situation for a long time.
It may be mentioned that the incident took place during a rally organised by the BJP to protest the attack on its party worker at Udaipur earlier in the morning.
While some people holding BJP flags were also seen indulging in vandalism, Northeast Live could not independently verify the identity of the attackers.
It may be mentioned that things heated up between the BJP and the CPM in Tripura after the incident in Sonamura sub division of Sepahijala district involving leader of opposition Manik Sarkar.
CPM members had alleged attack on Sarkar’s convoy by BJP workers where as the saffron party had blamed the CPM for resorting to violence.
