In a big development, as many as 67 cadres of the National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) laid down arms on Tuesday at Durgam in Assam’s Majbat.

The significant move comes in the wake of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s constant efforts to bring cadres of insurgent outfits to the mainstream.

This is the third mass surrender of NLFB militants in a month.

Earlier, the outfit’s chief M Batha had laid down arms along with 22 other insurgents at Lalpani in Udalguri on July 22. Few days later, 46 more members of the outfit gave up arms on August 8.

Meanwhile, all 67 surrendered cadres have been taken to the Udalguri camp.
