In a big boost to the state’s Agri sector, the Sikkim government has decided to provide additional and increased rate of incentives to a host of new agricultural produce besides cash crops and milk.
This was announced by state Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry minister LN Sharma today during a field visit to Rhenock constituency.
Addressing newsmen, LN Sharma announced that the state government will now provide Rs 100 per kilo incentive on Cardamom, Rs 20 on Ginger, Rs 10 on Turmeric or Haldi, Rs 20 on Oranges and Rs 10 on Buckwheat.
Besides, the minister announced incentives for a multitude of other vegetables such as cabbage, cauliflower, green peas, radish and carrots among others.
The Agriculture minister however, also maintained that all supplies should be via the Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) and Cooperatives.
