Meghalaya police is yet to make any headway into the recovery of a grenade from the vehicle of a Congress supporter of West Shillong candidate Mohendra Rapsang.

Michael Pakyntein, who was actively assisting Rapsang in his election campaign, discovered the grenade inside his vehicle yesterday morning and immediately informed the police.

Police confirmed it to be a China-made grenade and have launched an investigation but is yet to ascertain as to how or who could have kept it inside the Congress supporter’s car.

Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer, Frederick Khar-kongor said that he was yet to receive the full details of the incident. He however said West Shillong is already among the very sensitive constituencies and police are keeping a close tab on all political activities in the constituency.
