In pursuance of their long-standing demand for implementation of 7th UGC Pay, the Federation of Government College Teachers Association, Manipur or FEGOCTA has decided to boycott online classes and examinations

In pursuance of their long-standing demand for implementation of 7th UGC Pay, the Federation of Government College Teachers Association, Manipur or FEGOCTA has decided to boycott online classes and examinations in the government colleges from July 1, if the state government fails to meet their demand by June 30.

In a press release, the teachers’ body stated that the decision to boycott classes was taken in an emergency meeting of the association’s general body on Monday.

Condemning the government for its alleged delaying tactics, the release also states that this has to a deep sense of demoralisation and mental harassment for the state’s government college teachers.

Noting that other states of India including BJP ruled states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura have already implemented the national policy of UGC, the release further warns that if the Manipur government fails to meet their deadline of June 30, the state higher education department headed by education minister L Jayant Kumar Singh should take sole responsibility for any disruption in online classes and examinations thereafter.
