Assam Police on Friday apprehended three notorious criminals in an encounter that took place at Bala Mugkuchi in Nalbari district on Friday wee hours. The criminals who sustained bullet injuries were involved in cattle smuggling, drugs trade and other criminal activities.
The operation was jointly carried out by Nalbari and Ghagrapar police stations.
The arrested criminals have been identified as Abu Bakkar, Biju Ahmed and Rubul Hussain. Three other members of the gang managed to escape.
“Police retaliated, 3 from the gang received bullet injuries & apprehended. Search for other 3 is still on.
The kingpin Abu Bakkar Siddiqui who’s a wanted criminal on charge of cattle smuggling, drug trade and other crimes is among the nabbed,” said director general of police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti mahanta in a series of tweets.
Mahanta also congratulated the team for the successful operation.
“I congratulate the teams from Nalbari and Ghagrapar Police stations for this operation. And call upon each and every Police stations to emulate… inculcate local networks and create actionable intel, locally,” he stated.
On the other hand, Nalbari MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah felicitated the team of police for their bravery.
“Congratulated the police officers and their associates who arrested the infamous cow thieves Abu Bakkar, Biju Ahmed, Rubul Ahmed of Nalbari” Baruah said in a Facebook post.
