The row over the racial slur against Arunachal Pradesh MLA Ninong Ering refuses to die down. After Ludiana-based Paras Singh who has since been arrested, two other Youtubers, one of them with more than 1 million subscribers, have targeted Ninong Ering.
However, after an Arunachal Pradesh Youtuber highlighted the fresh abuse by the Youtubers – GTX Preet and 420 Gaming, they have deleted the videos.
The 21-year-old was apprehended in Ludhiana by the Punjab Police following a case registered in Arunachal Pradesh for his purported racial remarks against Congress MLA and former Union minister Ninong Ering and for inciting hatred against the people of the northeastern state.
It all began with Ering writing a letter to the Prime Minister on May 22 seeking for a stop on the re-launch of the popular mobile game PUBG. Ering in his letter said that the Battlegrounds Mobile India game, which is a revamped version of the PUBG game, is an attempt to sidestep Indian laws and deceive the government.
Ering also said in the letter that the PUBG game had been a source of addiction, monetary loss, self harm, accidents, suicides and even murders. The Pasighat East MLA also stated that the relaunch of the game would cause breach of privacy and cybersecurity.
Just like Paras who said that Ninong Ering does not look like an Indian, the other two Youtubers have also made similar remarks.
Both of them making racial comments on Ninong Ering in quick succession, right after the Paras Singh video, raises questions as to whether a controversy is being deliberately created to target those opposed to the launch of the game.
Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister and BJP leader Chowna Mein have said that a thorough investigation is necessary on the offensive post by the Ludhiana-based youtuber to ascertain whether there is a bigger conspiracy against the state and its people.
Participating on the debate show, hosted by Northeast Live Editor-in-chief Wasbir Hussain, Chowna Mein also called for a common platform of the northeastern chief ministers, MPs and assembly speakers to raise a common voice on such critical issues concerning the region.
Participating in the show, Arunachal congress leader and MLA Ninog Erring expressed shock at the attempt by the Youtuber to tarnish the image of the state and its people and also demanded an appropriate response from the government.
Meanwhile, Actor Varun Dhawan has also slammed the YouTuber Paras Singh, who was arrested after he used a racial slur against Ninong Ering in one of his videos and called him “non-Indian”.
Varun shared Amar’s post and wrote on his Instagram Stories, “Having spent so much time in Arunachal Pradesh, it is time we educate ourselves and others about how wrong this is.”
