BJP maintains lead in Assam; Ranjeet Dass, Padma Hazarika, Ajanta Neog emerge victorious

Assam state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass has won from the Patacharkuchi constituency.

Dass defeated his nearest Congress rival Santanu Sarma with a margin of 41,442 votes.

Ranjeet Dass who was elected from Sorbhog in 2011 and 2016, shifted his constituency to Patacharkuchi in this election.

BJP candidate and four-time MLA Padma Hazarika also emerged victorious from the Sootea seat with a margin of 24,155 votes. He defeated his nearest rival Praneswar Basumatary of Congress.

In Golaghat, BJP candidate and former minister Ajanta Neog won with a margin of 9,036 votes. She has been winning the Golaghat seat since 2001.

Vote counting is underway for the Assam Assembly elections is underway, as per official trends BJP is currently leading in 57 seats.

Meanwhile, party workers were seen celebrating by distributing sweets at the BJP office in Guwahati.
