Police have seized around 100 kg of cannabis from a man at the Balemu Police Check gate under Kalaktang sub-division in Arunachal’s West Kameng district on Friday.

According to the police, the accused was trying to smuggle the contraband item into the state of Assam.

The peddler was intercepted from the Balemu check post while he was smuggling the contrabands in a Bolero pickup, which was hidden under boxes of oranges being transported to Assam.

The drug peddler has been arrested and a case has been registered at the Balemu police station.

Meanwhile, the accused was produced before the magistrate at Kalaktang, and further interrogation is on.
