In a joint operation carried out by a team of Assam Rifles and Customs Department, recovered huge quantity of smuggled Areca Nuts in Mizoram’s Champhai district on Monday.
Based on specific information, the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), seized 18,400 kg of Areca Nuts, they also detained two individuals.
The approximate cost of the recovered Areca Nuts is Rs 51,52,000.
Assam Rifles, christened as the Sentinels of Northeast have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in the state.
