In some good news for the farmers, Sikkim Agriculture minister LN Sharma on Tuesday informed that the government will provide incentives on cash crops.
The State Government has launched the additional incentives scheme for cash crops namely, large cardamom, ginger, turmeric, orange and buckwheat in order to encourage the farmers to increase production, thereby supporting them to double their income.
While outlining agriculture as an important source of livelihood, the Minister added that the State Government is dedicated and committed to uplift Sikkimese people from consumer to producer.
The Minister further mentioned that the agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry sectors have huge potential in Sikkim to generate income and to enhance the local people’s economy, he added.
Therefore, the State Government has rolled out new incentives, schemes, programmes and plans to benefit the farmers and to motivate the youths in these sectors.
