Deepotsav celebrations in the holy city of Ayodhya has made it to the Guinness World records for ‘the largest display of oil lamps’ after over 5.84 lakh earthen lamps were lit on the banks of river Saryu on Friday.

The Uttar Pradesh government has confirmed that 5,84,572 diyas were lit on Friday. The entire city has been decorated with lights.

The celebrations were held in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh started Deepotsav celebration in Ayodhya after Yogi Adityanath became the chief minister in March 2017.
