Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday apprised Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation at the Assam-Mizoram border and the steps taken by the State Government.
He requested the Union Home Minister to take necessary steps by the Central Government to maintain peace and harmony in the border areas.
The Assam Chief Minister also assured that the State Government would follow the directives of the Central Government in bringing the situation under control.
Moreover, the Chief Minister reviewed the current situation of Assam-Mizoram border in a crucial meeting held today. Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah apprised the Chief Minister about the present situation. DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta informed about the steps taken for keeping law and order situation in control.
The Chief Minister directed the top officials to maintain peaceful environment and keep brotherhood and harmony intact at the Assam-Mizoram border areas.
